Celbridge Town hosted our Annual ‘Family Fun Day’ on Saturday 7th June at our newly named Seamus Hayden Park in the heart of Celbridge. A fantastic day was had by everyone
The football kicked off at 9.30am and continued right throughout the day with all club teams participating Thankfully the weather was kind up until 3pm!
In addition to the football, there was plenty of activities; with Bouncy Castles on the go all day, face painting and the BBQ was a great hit with every single burger and hot dog sold
We also held our annual end of year Club Awards, with Our Excellent U12 Boys team managed by Paul, Dave and Andrey winning the coveted Seamus Hayden Trophy for Team of the Year. It was great to have Seamus’ family in attendance on the day to see the award being handed over to the double winning team. John Feary was a very well deserving winner of the Gerry Kenneally Club Person of the Year.
The name change from St Patrick’s Park to Seamus Hayden Park was an emotional moment… Chairman Derek Meaney reminisced about Seamus with a few lovely stories from his own schoolboy days and as chairman. Seamus’ son and committee member, Shane Hayden, thanked everyone in front of his mother Mary and all their extended family.
The Committee would like to thank everyone that attended and contributed to the fundraising.
Lastly, a big thank you to all the Managers and Coaches for helping to facilitate the day. We would like to thank all our Club members for their support throughout the year and wish you all a great summer. We look forward to seeing you all back for next season.
